Inception and Overcoming Hardship

We kicked-off back in 1986 and Debra and Lance Beckett were the ones that got it all started.

In 1985 Lance was seriously injured in a mining accident. With a young family to provide for and hardship on the horizon – Callais was born.

We experienced the hardship of being ‘under the weather’ and have built a company to help others when disaster strikes.

Today, some 38 years on – we’re an organisation with a team of certified professionals providing a range of disaster restoration services to Insurers, Loss Adjusters, Builders and Homeowners throughout Australia.

Our specialised team have combined over 100 years of remediation and restoration experience, knowledge and expertise in the Australia Restoration Industry.

We have a large client base of Insurers, Builders, Loss Adjusters and Homeowners throughout Australia who we have built strong relationships with over the years allowing us to streamline the claims process and ensure a hassle – free experience for our customers. We guide Insured owners through the claim process of remediation and complex claims resolution.

We have navigated our clients through some of the heaviest natural disaster’s the last two decades and walked with them as we guide them back to normality of everyday life.

We have cheeky marketeers and warm and fuzzy human resource managers who keep the company fresh and lively whatever it does and wherever it does it.

Our Commitment to the Community

We recognise we have broad responsibilities to our people and our community and we take them seriously. Remember that old Johnny Mercer song ‘you’ve got to accentuate the positive and eliminate the negative?’ Not a bad approach, we thought.

Sure, the science of climate change is far from settled, but we made the call that it was better to err on the side of caution. At the end of the day, we’re tradies, not scientists. And it’s not our planet to gamble with. So, we made a commitment and we’re going to keep it.

We have a truckload of amazing people who work here, but we don’t have a cast of thousands. So, we look for areas where what we do have makes a difference. And we make it.

Don’t take this the wrong way, but we think we’re pretty good at what we do. And so, when we rely on other trades to get our job done, we need to know their service is on par with ours.

So, we have developed a selection criterion. Every service provider we work with must undergo detailed and consistent analysis to verify to us and to you, that they can bend it like Beckham. If they pass, we call them Callais Preferred.

We now have a panel of Callais Preferred suppliers which span the continent and we think we’ve nailed it. But it’s not a closed book.
